What does Lismore want?

Lismore is specifically looking for more investment in:airport_plane_web

Aged care: more integrated style of development that allows people to remain in the community – ‘ageing in place’. This includes modifying existing homes and building duplex style homes suited to the needs of seniors wishing to downsize.

Accommodation: Lismore has only one 4.5 star establishment, with occupancy rates far exceeding the average occupancy rate in the City.  Lismore is a corporate centre, with strong demand for more high-end, executive style, 4+ star accommodation close to the city centre.  Self contained accommodation in the city centre also presents another great opportunity for development.

Aviation industry: Lismore’s Regional Airport is home to a growing general aviation industry hub.

Boutique wine bar/restaurant/cafe : Lismore’s cafe culture thrives during the week. However, in the city centre there are few outlets that cater for the business market in the early evening and on weekends. There is unmet demand for up-market restaurants and cafes that open on weekends, particularly in an outdoor setting. Click here for more info.

Certified Organic: converting traditional farms to certified organic in order to open up new markets.

Conference Facilities: there is considerable demand for a 100+ seating capacity conference facility in the city centre to service the needs of the business community.

Health sector: the Lismore local government area has a shortage of key health workers, like most of rural Australia. This includes a shortage of general practitioners, nurses,  psychologists, dieticians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, diabetes educators and speech pathologists. In fact demand for allied health professionals is high in most professions, although there is an oversupply of naturopaths. The GP/doctor population ratio has increased in recent years and there are significant business/practice opportunities available with immediate demand evident.

Industrial Land: as the region’s centre for industry and commerce, there is a strong potential for further land development. Click here for more info.

Residential land development: recognising Lismore’s rapidly growing population, the State Government is committed to supporting Council facilitate the opening up of 8,000 residential allotments to the year 2031.
